Westbury Avenue Baptist Church

Our vision is to help meet the needs of the community around us

As part of our Mission Statement it is our aim to engage with the community around us:

  • We want to see believers committing themselves to the fellowship and to reach out into our community, seeing our building open during the week to welcome people of the area."

We read about the parable of the talents in Matthew 25 verses 14 to 30 and felt challenged to do more with what God has given us.

Matthew 25 verses 34 to 36 shows us that we are to meet the needs of our neighbours, whoever they are and wherever we find them.

Understanding the needs

We have been actively looking to understand the needs of our local community and conducted a community consultation to find out. You can read it by clicking here.

As a result, we discovered the needs for more provision for the elderly and young people in the area.

In the last year we have started our 50+Keep Fit classes and expanded our Youth activities at the weeekend.

To rebuild and renovate

And what are we looking for? Isaiah says:

  • "If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight. You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You'll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again."

This is a time of great change for us as we seek to do more with our personal skills and gifts, our corporate resources and our building.
